Abstract
Annotation
The article discusses the prospects for expanding acreage for sugar sorghum in the northern regions of Kazakhstan. Its biological features are described, including drought resistance, the ability to restore vegetation after long periods without consequences, and high biomass productivity. The key agrotechnical problems are highlighted, such as the weak competitiveness of crops in the region with weeds and the requirements for sowing technologies. Special attention is paid to the consequences of the emergence of new varieties and hybrids of sugar sorghum, as well as the use of soil herbicides and early sowing dates to increase yields.
