MEMORY OF WAR: THE MEMORY OF THE FEAT OF BAKIT BAIZHANOV DESERVES TO BE IMMORTALIZED

Abstract
. On the basis of the materials of the Special State Archive of the KNB it is proposed to immortalize the memory of the hero and patriot Bakit Baizhanov, who, being in the «Turkestan Legion», kept in touch with the Soviet partisans and organized an underground group among the legionnaires. In December 1942, the group, having killed 30 Germans, defected to the side of the Red Army with weapons in their hands. The organizer of the group - Bakit Baizhanov was arrested by fascists, despite tortures, did not give out any of his compatriots and was shot. Despite the presence of a number of documentary materials and testimonies confirming the heroism of Baizhanov, his feat remains practically unknown until now.
