PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING: A STRATEGY FOR CULTIVATING COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE IN SENIOR FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNERS
Abstract
AbstractThis article explores the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) as an effective strategy for enhancing communicative competence among senior foreign language learners. The purpose of the study is to examine how PBL can facilitate the development of essential language skills through collaborative and interactive learning environments. The methodology section outlines various PBL methods, including collaborative learning, role-playing, case studies, simulations, peer teaching, and problem-solving activities, which are designed to promote active communication and critical thinking in the target language. Although specific research findings are not presented, the article discusses the potential benefits of PBL, including increased student engagement, improved language fluency, and enhanced interpersonal skills. The implications for educators highlight the importance of integrating PBL into language curricula to create dynamic learning experiences that prepare students for real-world communication. Ultimately, this article advocates for a shift towards more interactive teaching methodologies in foreign language education to foster a deeper understanding and practical use of the language.
