THE CONTINUITY OF MATHEMATICS TEACHING BETWEEN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS BASED ON THE THEORIZATION OF THE CONTENT OF MATHEMATICAL EDUCATION

Abstract

Annotation. The purpose of this study is to analyze the opinions of teachers and lecturers in order to realize the continuity of mathematics teaching between higher education institutions and secondary schools based on the theorization of the content of mathematical education. This study used a qualitative research method. The research group consisted of 40 mathematics teachers and 12 teachers teaching at various universities and secondary schools in Kazakhstan. The research data was collected using a semi-structured interview form developed in advance. The research data was evaluated using the content analysis method. The study showed that the majority of mathematics teachers who participated in the study did not have a sufficient level of competence in additional topics of mathematics content theorization. The vast majority of mathematics teachers stated that their competence in solving mathematical problems on new topics is very insufficient.
