Abstract

In this work, the qualitative and quantitative phytochemical composition of aerial part extracts of greater plantain (Plantago major L.), growing in the ecological zone of the West Kazakhstan region was investigated. Qualitative phytochemical analysis showed that the leaves and inflorescences of Plantago major L. contain all the most important groups of bioactive compounds, such as carbohydrates, phenolic compounds and flavonoids. Quantitative experiments have established the highest content of phenolic compounds in the aqueous extract of inflorescences (49,34 ± 4,93 мгGAE/г), and flavonoids - in the aqueous extract of leaves (278,04 ± 10,58 мгQE/г). Obtained data is of practical importance and may be useful in the development of Plantago major L. based drugs.
